Assists the Mail Room Supervisor in the coordination of centralized mail service for departments and activities under the Board of County Commissioners.
Work is performed with considerable independence and the exercise of independent judgment under the general supervision of the Mail Room Supervisor or other designated supervisor. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Participates in the efficient receipt, sorting and delivery of a variety of interoffice mail, postal mail and supplies.
- Resolves basic mail operations issues.
- Functions as primary contact for mail operations inquiries.
- Trains new hires on mail room processes and procedures.
- Assigns and reviews the daily work of Mail Clerks.
- Receives and sorts mail.
- Operates equipment such as a mail scale, postage meter, automatic letter opener and assures that the meter is properly maintained and has sufficient postage.
- Maintains supplies and materials.
- Calculates and affixes correct postage to letters and packages.
- Provides customer service to County staff regarding postal services and special mailings.
- Assists departments in processing high volume mailings.
- Responds to concerns and questions from both internal and external customers.
- Assures that mail is properly routed by updating the names of officials, directors, managers, employees, departments and divisions.
- Determines correct addresses for returned or misdirected mail.
- Makes regular deliveries to the post office and County buildings on an assigned route and schedule.
- Maintains various logs, records and files.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
High School diploma or equivalen.
Two (2) years of mail room experience.
An equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain a State of Florida Driver’s License within six months of hire date. |

| |
Mail Room supervisor or team lead experience.
Knowledge of Orange County property locations. |
