FINANCE COORDINATOR

General Functions
  

Performs short-term and long-range financial analysis in support of the Department’s budget and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Finance Office within the Department. This is responsible professional work formulating budgets and preparing financial forecasts.

Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of a Fiscal Administrator and/or Department Manager.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Supervises the daily operations of the Finance Office.
  • Supervises and monitors the revenue, cash receipts, and invoicing of accounts receivable staff.
  • Supervises and monitors requisitions, purchases, and expenditure functions of accounts payable staff.
  • Assists the Department Fiscal Administrator and/or Division Managers in the budget process, financial analysis, and in maintaining accurate financial data.
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and supervisors with capital, operating budgets and expenditures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or Public Administration. Four (4) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial analysis.

Experience must include the use of automated accounting systems.

In lieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Should possess excellent written, oral and financial analysis skills.

Must possess extensive knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and accounting software.

 
Preferences
  

Three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Experience with local government finances.
