CLINIC SUPERVISOR

General Functions
  

This position ensures that animals receive prompt and compassionate care while maintaining efficient clinic operations. This includes overseeing daily activities from staffing to addressing concerns from both internal and external customers.

Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of a Chief Veterinarian or designated manager. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Provides triage and care for urgent, emergency, or critically vulnerable animals that would otherwise not survive without immediate intervention.
  • Makes euthanasia decisions in the absence of a doctor and inputs appropriately into animal records.
  • Maintains and controls inventories for the clinic and kennel including scheduled drugs. Ensures proper recordkeeping and dispensing of controlled drugs for use throughout the shelter.
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities to include staffing, disciplining, training, coaching, and evaluating assigned staff.
  • Ensures documentation is maintained and accurate for all animals.
  • Makes certain smooth and uninterrupted clinic operations.
  • Communicates with staff veterinarian as well as supervise and schedule clinic staff to ensure proper coverage for all aspects of clinic operations. This includes performing veterinary technician or intake specialist (front door) duties as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Associate degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of experience as a veterinarian technician, medical assistant or closely related field to include one (1) year of supervisory experience. In lieu of the degree requirements, additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

 
Preferences
  

A degree in Business Administration or a related field.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel etc.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with all levels of staff and citizens on technical and non-technical issues involving the animal control industry. 

Experience in managing a practice.

Experience in using Chameleon software.

Knowledge of shelter veterinary medicine.
