TV HOST/PRODUCER

General Functions
  

This key position is a highly creative role responsible for researching, writing, and performing as an on-camera host and producer for a variety of mediums, including television, video and social media. The employee interacts with all levels of individuals. Responsibilities include formulating and editing stories within a defined deadline. Work is conducted in a digital video environment.

Work is performed with considerable independence and the exercise of independent judgment under the general supervision of the Orange TV Assistant Manager. This position has indirect reporting to the Communications Division Manager and works closely with the Assistant Manager of Communications.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Hosts on-camera for live broadcast, studio and field television and social media programs.
  • Collaborates closely with the Assistant Manager of Communications to plan and coordinate Orange TV video coverage in keeping with the County’s editorial priorities.
  • Researches and writes scripts for video, television and social media programs. Produces and decides program content and guests.
  • Performs studio and field production work for television and social media programs.
  • Edits and reviews completed video, television and social media programs for accuracy.
  • Performs voice over and narration of recordings for public service announcements, training videos, program and social media segments.
  • Performs special projects or assignments as required by management.
  • Serves on-call as an emergency responder with Orange County ESF-14, which may require assignments at the Emergency Operations Center during emergency activation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and four (4) years of professional experience as an on-camera host, television producer, and reporter. In lieu of the degree requirements, additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

 
Preferences
  

A degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Television Production, Public Relations, Media Relations or a closely related field.

High-Definition cameras, Non-Linear Editing (Adobe Premiere Pro and Creative Cloud Suite) experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Familiarity with both Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS operating systems.
