RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

General Functions
  

This position performs professional level work in the development, implementation and evaluation of risk management programs.

Work is performed under supervision of the Risk Management Administrator. Performance is reviewed through completed assignments, reports and results achieved.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  1. Review of Park Rental Requests and Community Action Rental Requests
    • Evaluate submitted park rental applications for compliance with insurance requirements.
    • Communicate with applicants to obtain necessary documentation or clarify requirements.
    • Maintain records of approved/denied rental agreements and insurance certificates.
    • Maintain a database of approved vendors and their insurance documentation.
    • All communication on these requests should take place via the rental request inbox and any communication by phone should be noted in the database.
  1. Assist with Insurance Review of Vendors Participating in County Events
    • Review insurance certificates and endorsements submitted by vendors to ensure compliance with County requirements.
    • Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies or incomplete submissions.
    • Maintain a database of approved vendors and their insurance documentation.
  1. Processing Driver Training Requests
    • Coordinate driver training courses for employees by reviewing requests and scheduling participants.
  1. Handling Driver License Issues
    • Monitor and process notifications of driver license suspensions or expirations.
    • Notify affected employees and their supervisors of required corrective actions.
    • Maintain up-to-date records of employee driver license statuses.
    • Run and distribute reports on employee driver training status for departmental review.
  1. Review of Insurance for Services Provided on Orange County Property
    • Evaluate and verify insurance coverage for services conducted on County property, including contracted services or services paid via p-card.
    • Ensure that insurance documentation meets County policy requirements, such as limits, endorsements, and additional insured provisions.
    • Coordinate with contractors and departmental contacts to address and resolve insurance issues. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  1. Review of Permits
    • Review Outdoor Public Assembly (OPA), MSTU's, Block Party and Film Permits for insurance compliance.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Associate's degree from an accredited institution and one (1) year of insurance or risk management experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

 
Preferences
  

A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Public Administration.
