| General Functions |

This key position is responsible for assessment and treatment planning with Orange County clients seeking substance abuse and mental health services, including conducting mental status evaluations for those referred for behavioral health services. The position performs responsible supervisory and administrative work by directing, planning, and coordinating one or more major programs or projects in alignment with performance standards, service contracts, and standard operating procedures to support the clinical services.
This position requires independent judgment and initiative and is performed under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor and is reviewed through observation of performance, conferences, reports and results achieved. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Conducts needs assessments based on psychosocial history and reviews medical charts to evaluate mental status of clients.
- Conducts group and/or individual counseling with clients who have substance abuse and mental health disorders.
- Conducts Mental Status Exams and assesses mental health via behavior, including verbal and nonverbal cues to diagnose clients accurately.
- Consults with case managers and other staff to provide recommendations relative to treatment, classification, housing, etc.
- Prepares case documentation, reports, or correspondence.
- Prepares and presents psychoeducational material to clients with a substance abuse/mental health disorder.
- Provides crisis intervention counseling or assistance, as necessary.
- Provides training, development activities and consultation to staff.
- Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary environment supporting mental health and well-being.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Youth & Family Services
- Develops and plans programs for the assigned section of the department and ensures service quality through performance observation, record monitoring, facility and equipment inspections and conferences with staff and clients.
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned program staff to include assigning and overseeing client case assignments and other duties as directed or approved by the Senior Program Manager.
- Ensures provision of appropriate services to program clients through direct supervision, consultation, and supervisory review of casework.
- Develops and coordinates services with practitioners and programs within the county, courts, or other agencies.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy and two (2) years of professional experience providing direct clinical services in a social services or healthcare setting.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) License.
Depending on area of assignment, must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. |

Proficient in Microsoft Word and email computer applications.
Drug Free Community Office
Experience treating substance abuse and mental health disorders in community health clinics.
Experience using the current DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).
Youth & Family Services
Three (3) years of experience in counseling, social, educational, community services programs, or residential services to include one (1) year of supervisory experience. |
