| General Functions |

This position is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff of Corrections Health Services and assuring consistent quality care is provided to the inmate population of the Orange County Jail.
Work is performed with considerable independence and the exercise of independent judgment under the general supervision of the Manager, Corrections Health Services or other designated supervisor. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
Health Services, Corrections
- Directs and oversees the daily operations of nursing staff and clinical units, ensuring adequate staffing coverage, training, education, and quality patient care in compliance with accreditation standards.
- Manages departmental personnel functions including hiring, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, training and development, and team-building activities.
- Oversees and analyzes the nursing department’s budget and statistical data (e.g., overtime, FMLA usage, agency hours) to ensure efficient use of resources and make strategic recommendations to division leadership.
- Develops, implements, and revises nursing policies, procedures, and service models to improve care delivery and align with organizational goals and standards.
- Designs and leads continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and advance nursing practice.
- Participates in administrative and staff meetings, accreditation processes, and ensure compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
- Provides direct patient care when necessary to support clinical operations.
- Mediates and resolves conflicts involving patients, physicians, or staff to maintain a professional and effective care environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Nursing or a related field and five (5) years of experience managing nursing staff, including scheduling, staffing, and handling personnel matters such as hiring and performance management. In lieu of the degree requirements, additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
Must possess and maintain a valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida. |
