| General Functions |

This key position leads and works alongside a crew in the operation and maintenance of County drainwells or pump stations to include performing inspections to ensure proper working conditions and operations.
Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Foreman. Performance is reviewed through meetings, conferences, reports, and results achieved. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
Drainwells
- Inspects County drainwells on private and public property to determine their operating capability, including reading well drilling specifications and verifying required pipe and ground conditions.
- Directs and participates in necessary cleaning of debris cages and minor repairs, such as replacing pipe grates, patching concrete, etc.
- Keeps supervisor informed of drainwell condition, reporting collapsed pipework and/or ground, and indicating need for redrilling or major repairs.
- Caps off inoperable drainwells to prevent back-up and potential flooding during flood situations or emergency weather conditions.
- Provides leadership and training to work crew as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Pump Stations
- Inspects and operates County pump stations and control structures on private and public property to ensure proper working order along with operating at appropriate capacity and kept free of debris during emergency flood situations for lake levels to be raised and lowered at the rate prescribed.
- Directs and participates in starting and stopping pumps, testing water release gates and synchronizing pumping rates in order to maintain proper lake levels.
- Performs minor mechanical maintenance on pump motors such as changing oil and various filters and routine lubricating.
- Ensures that pump stations have adequate fuel supply and that grounds are kept, including mowing lawns, mending fences, and repairing or cleaning up any damage due to vandalism.
- Keeps supervisor informed of pump station and control structure conditions, reporting problems and any need for major repairs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in drainwell or pump station (depending on area assigned) maintenance and repair or a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted. |
