| General Functions |
| |
This key position performs highly skilled multi-trades technical work specializing in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), locksmithing, carpentry, masonry, lighting, audio, telecommunications, building, grounds and landscaping maintenance, and other building systems and services. Interacts on a regular basis with staff, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure highest level of service and work quality. May lead or supervise lower-level technicians or crew.
Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Technical Operations Supervisor or other designated supervisor. Performance is evaluated based on guidance provided to team members, quality of completed work, and achievement of operational goals. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Performs work in a variety of skilled trades and may serve in a lead capacity depending on department assignment , including:
- Electrical Systems: Installs, maintains, and repairs systems up to 480 volts.
- Plumbing and HVAC: Services chillers, air handlers, generators, and pneumatic controls.
- Carpentry and Masonry: Performs structural repair work including framing, finishing, flooring, and blockwork.
- Surface Finishes: Applies paint, carpet, tile, and other finish materials.
- Locksmithing and Machining: Maintains keying systems and performs precision repairs.
- Mechanical Systems: Troubleshoots and repairs motors, pumps, valves, and power systems.
- Structural Repairs: Maintains drywall, roofing, doors, and partitions.
- Technical Systems: Supports lighting, sound, audiovisual, and fire/life safety systems.
- Exterior Maintenance: Assists with sidewalks, asphalt, irrigation, and landscaping.
- May assist with planning, scheduling, or coordinating work orders or events.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Convention Center
- Performs all the above duties at a lead level or as a supervisor for assigned staff and contractors.
- Plans and schedules work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and event support.
- Supervises, trains, and mentors assigned technicians, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders.
- Operates and oversees computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance documentation.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in skilled trades, event services, facility maintenance, or other technical services. Completion of trade school, relevant licensure, or certification may substitute for up to one (1) year of required experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education or experience may be substituted.
Depending on the area of assignment, must possess and maintain valid licenses and/or certifications:
- Florida Driver’s License
- Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) Rigging Certification
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Certification
- Backflow Prevention License
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant License
- Journeyman/Master Plumber License
- Journeyman/Master Electrician License

| Preferences |
| |
Working knowledge and/or skills regarding electrical distribution equipment, computerized lighting and audio equipment, chillers and air handlers, and/or a variety of motorized high-lift equipment.
Convention Center
Experience working in a convention center or highly occupied facility performing related maintenance and/or installation of utilities, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting/audio services, rigging or facility maintenance. |
