ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS COORDINATOR

General Functions
  

This key position coordinates and/or performs technical work based on area of assignment to include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, operation and module and component level repair of all Convention Center electronic show support systems. This includes but is not limited to acoustics, electronic signal transmission protocol in both analog and digital domain, control software relating to VFDs, BADs, audio & lighting systems at program level, HVAC electronic/pneumatic systems, various components of the Convention Center's life safety system. This position requires in-depth knowledge based on area of assignment, full knowledge of module and component level repair and diagnostic techniques for all electronic systems. Provides instruction on system operation and maintenance procedures to other Convention Center staff.

Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the section supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved.

Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Oversees various components of the Convention Center's electronic systems and provides leadership (guidance) to staff assigned to maintain and monitor systems.
  • Ensures compliance with specific regulations related to inspection and maintenance of systems.
  • Specifies equipment to be purchased for interface to existing systems installs for new and reconditioned equipment into building lighting, audio, HVAC and life safety systems to ensure compatibility.
  • Troubleshoots system defects and anomalies.
  • Fabricates devices to interface obsolete current and future technologies to the existing building systems.
  • Handles day-to-day issues associated with electronic systems.
  • Coordinates with building clients and in-house Event Coordinators to resolve client equipment interface issues and maintain systems to ensure minimum failure and negative impact on client.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Associate's degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in area of assignment. In lieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Access Control Electronic Systems
Experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: computer-based Building Control Systems, database creation and configuration, graphic software, electronic controls, programmable controllers, and control software specific to computer based control systems.

Facility Maintenance Electronic Systems
Experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: computer-based Building Control Systems, database creation and configuration, graphic software, electronic controls, programmable controllers, 4-20 ma control circuits, rectifiers, 12-480v, three-phase circuits, and control software specific to computer based control systems.

HVAC Electronic Systems
Experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: computer-based Building Automation Systems (BAS), database creation and configuration, graphic software, pneumatic controls, programmable controllers, 4-20 ma control circuits, rectifiers, 12-480v, three-phase circuits, and control software specific to variable frequency drives (VFDs).

Life Safety Electronic Systems
Experience in programming, testing and inspecting electronic fire alarm systems.

Technical Services Electronic Systems
Experience in maintenance and operation, module and component level troubleshooting and repair in at least three (3) of the following areas: computer based audio system controls, computerized architectural lighting control systems, computerized performance lighting control systems, analog lighting control systems, analog audio control systems, fiber optic systems, and large scale distributed RF/CATV systems.

 
Preferences
  

A degree in Electronics, Computer Science or a related field.

Experience in maintaining job site documentation (example, time sheets, as-built drawings).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.

Proficient in use and application of personal computers including Microsoft Office Suite.


Life Safety Electronic Systems
Working knowledge of test equipment to include multi-meters, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters and communication devices.

Ability to set up, program, and test basic TCP/IP networks.
