INVENTORY SPECIALIST

General Functions
  

This role provides daily and after-hours emergency support involving materials, supplies, and repair parts for the Water and Water Reclamation Divisions through the Operations Support-controlled inventory warehouse.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Uses the Maximo computerized inventory system to issue and transfer warehouse stock items to plant and field repair and maintenance personnel for routine maintenance and emergency repair activities.
  • Creates inventory order requests through the Maximo inventory system for emergency repairs to utility systems.
  • Tracks open orders and backordered items through the Maximo inventory system and completes transactions and orders as items become available.
  • Researches deliveries for other divisions through the Maximo purchase order system and contacts the appropriate personnel to ensure the timely delivery of merchandise.
  • Organizes daily paperwork for the supervisor’s review.
  • Pulls and stages orders for the various divisions’ daily workloads and emergency requests.
  • Receives and stocks inventory while ensuring accuracy.
  • Reviews each item to determine whether it is on order and meets the required specifications.
  • Performs weekly cycle counts on specified bin-number ranges to maintain inventory accuracy and conducts an annual physical inventory.
  • Maintains inventory bin locations and overflow areas to ensure appropriate stock levels.
  • Informs the supervisor of items in short supply to initiate the procurement process.
  • Ensures the warehouse is maintained in a neat and clean condition and is free of safety violations.
  • Protects inventory by following established security procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years of experience using material-handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks; performing basic warehousing and inbound and outbound shipping duties; using a computerized inventory control system; or utilizing basic computer skills.

Must demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to make accurate decisions regarding the specifications of materials and parts needed to complete repairs in emergency situations.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license or possess the ability to obtain one by the date of hire.

 
Preferences
  

Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably Maximo.

Knowledge of underground utilities and plumbing.
