| General Functions |
| |
Depending on area of assignment, this key position performs field work by contacting customers in the field to respond to inquiries and completing routine work orders, or by reviewing, resolving and submitting reports on customer issues and contract/franchise hauler operations.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Utilities Account Supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports, and results achieved. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Meets with customers in the field to respond to inquiries.
- Maintains daily log of activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Meter Reading & Delinquent Account
- Initiates, terminates and restores service to include turning on new accounts, turning off services per customer requests and disconnecting for non-payment.
- Fills in as a Meter Reader II as needed.
- Collects delinquent accounts for money owed.
- Rereads meters to determine accuracy of meter readers.
- Identifies and reports unauthorized connections.
- Checks for meter tampering and removes meter.
- Investigates cross connection situations.
- Reports malfunctioning meters.
Solid Waste
- Responds to and resolves residential solid waste customer complaints/inquiries and related work orders.
- Conducts franchise hauler inspections and identifies and documents hauler performance issues.
- Reviews mandatory refuse assessments and exemptions through field visits. Completes necessary paperwork for any status changes.
- Investigates commercial hauler complaints and reviews annual license requirements to ensure records are kept current.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of public contact experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. |

| Preferences |
| |
Possess oral and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with staff and the public to explain County and Department policy and procedure.
Meter Reading & Delinquent Account
Experience in meter reading.
Solid Waste
Experience with the review of franchise hauler contracts and the Solid Waste Ordinance.
Knowledge of the ArcGIS program. |
